TS-D1720C Features Dual-Layer IMX (Injection Molded Matrix) Aramid/Basalt Fiber Composite Cone To create new D-Series speakers, Pioneer developed the industry's first basalt fiber made from natural rock interwoven with aramid fiber. Used in the surface layer, this Aramid/Basalt Fiber material is highly rigid and better absorbent, enhancing stability and maintaining integrity throughout a wide temperature range. Rear Chamber Tweeter Enclosure D-Series speakers feature an exclusive rear chamber tweeter enclosure that we first used in our famed PRS speakers. TS-W3002D4 Features Air Suspension System For its revolutionary 3.25 inch deep Shallow Subwoofer, Pioneer created an Air Suspension system effective within a 70% smaller-than-previous enclosure that locks air for a spring-like effect between main and drive cones moving in unison. Thanks to its innovative enclosure design, the TS-SWX251 enclosure can be installed freely in the cabin or luggage area for optimal utilization of space. The compact space-saving dimensions also make it easy to install the subwoofer in a variety of trucks- standard-cab, extended-cab, or crew-cab.

Air Suspension Excursion Control System

Enjoy deep big bass from a small enclosure. In order to create a subwoofer that is three and a quarter inches deep, Pioneer had to develop revolutionary subwoofer technology. A traditional subwoofer uses the spider design to keep the voice coil of the speaker aligned while it moves. This type of set-up can become soft over time degrading the subwoofer's performance. Pioneer created a patent-pending air suspension system that locks air between a main cone and a drive cone. The cones move together in unison, with the locked-in air behaving like a spring. The dual-cone structure is a spider-less design that maintains better sound linearity, and reliability even after many of hours of hard use. The pressure from the trapped air results in a consistent bass response across a wide frequency range. The result is a tight, precise movement with powerful and clean bass output.

Angled Push Terminals

Traditional subwoofer terminals are mounted horizontally or vertically. These mounts force wires to be bent to fit which can be difficult if low gauge high performance wires are used. The Pioneer shallow subwoofer's patent-pending, angled push terminals make it easy to connect speaker wires. The straighter connection saves space and makes installation easier.

Downfiring Subwoofer Technology

By directing the subwoofer diaphragm downward, the TS-SWX251 radiates bass with superior efficiency for richer, deeper low-frequency sound regardless of the enclosure's installed position.

TS-SW2501S4 Features Interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber Reinforced IMPP Cone To ensure that you get more natural bass, we've incorporated out new Basalt fiber technology into our shallow subwoofers. The volcanic-rock fibers create a cone that is lightweight, rigid, well damped, stable in temperature extremes, and more environmentally friendly. In short, this bass really rocks. 3-Layer Radial Surround A sub's surround plays a key role in its overall performance. In order for bass response to be clear and tight, the surround has to respond evenly around its entire circumference without flexing or puckering, even at high volume levels. That's why Pioneer created a surround consisting of two layers of urethane, with a layer of interwoven fiber between them. It's strong, stable, and it reduces distortion. Spring-Compression Binding Posts Why does Pioneer use Spring-Compression Binding Posts, instead of standard speaker wire terminals?
