My kids always leave the doors to our Van open and drain the battery. So I bought this jump starter. A week after recieving it, I was out of town, and my wife had to use it to start the van. I had given her no instruction, and it worked great, despite the fact that she also turned on the compressor while jump starting the van. As its name implies, this charger is designed for long-term maintenance charging, rather than recharging a dead battery in a few hours. Widely accepted as standard equipment for motorcycles that spend time sitting in the garage during cold winter months. Tops off the battery automatically and keeps it healthy. It's also worth getting just to have the adapter permanently mounted on the bike, as there are so many accessories made to work off battery power by plugging in to the battery tender adapter (for example, Slime's "Power Sport Tire Inflator," which is a great portable air compressor you can use anywhere with the battery tender adapter. Slime 40001 Power Sport Tire Inflator). The waterproof model is worth getting if you're going to leave it out to charge all the time (as recommended) to protect against moisture or any exposure to bad weather. I've used it to charge a dead car battery, too, and it worked but took about 18 hours.

I have a red-top optima battery in my sedan, which I think for the most part is a great battery (my 1999 Acura had the original battery up until 2.5 yrs ago, so I don't have much to compare it to other than that original). However, because I hardly drive anywhere anymore, I needed something to maintain the charge, especially during the winter. A few months before I purchased this charger, one of my front headlights was going quite noticeably dim. It is a xenon, and I was dreading purchasing a new one. However, after having this Battery Tender hooked to my optima battery just overnight, to my surprise, the problem was resolved. Apparently, it wasn't my light bulb that needed changing, but rather just my battery that needed some "tending". Since I'm not an auto mechanic, I don't know the details for why only the driver's side bulb would do this if it was a battery issue (you'd think such battery drainage would show up bilaterally), but that's beyond this review.

I have never owned a car battery charger before, but looked into one last year and after a little research in different auto sites/forums, where they seemed to constantly warn about getting the right charger lest the battery overflow and cause damage to the battery and so on and so forth, I chickened out (those sites & forums always recommended expensive battery chargers, and I didn't want to pay over $60 for something which could potentially also harm my $170 battery!). Then, when I received an email from amazon about this product, I just had to give it a try at under $30, especially because another site selling it claimed that it worked on optima batteries (plus the great reviews). Have not regretted it for the past month I've owned it, but obviously a month's time (even if that month is during the winter time) does not a best review make :)

In any case, I found the directions extremely easy to follow. The only problem I can see a novice to "anything below the hood" can potentially have is knowing where/what a "ground" is. For that, I recommend a quick youtube search, so you can visualize it. I have only used the clips so far, but it comes with what I believe are referred to as semi-permanent attachements. Let me be honest, I have no clue off the bat how to hook them up to the battery, but again I imagine it isn't rocket science and youtubing it would solve that issue for others who want to use them. Hope that helps!

This product is just what it claims to be. A smart charger that does a float charge to keep your battery in peak condition. It came with both ring terminal connectors and mini clamp connectors which allows you to switch the charger to other vehicles. Low charging amps so long charge time but that should be better for extending battery life.

Not much to add to the great reviews so far. This thing is great. I have 2 batteries in my boat and 2 in my diesel truck. I installed the plug in leads on the boat batteries for easy, semi-permanent, solid connecting installation. The clip leads I'll keep here at the house for the truck since that's a short term need.

It's easy, light, compact and does the job well. Just plug it in and go and I don't have to worry about weekly trips up to the boat to switch a big clunky battery charger from battery to battery. When I need to top off the truck batteries (it helps keep them healthy) I'll plug it in here and not have to worry about disconnecting the 1 battery I'm going to charge so the other won't leach off it. I can charge both evenly and not put undo draw on the stronger of the 2.

I just wish I would have gotten this thing a long time ago!!!

I'm using the tender to keep the 2 batteries in my boat, that is on its trailer next to my house, up to full charge throughout the Winter. One battery is a water filled type with high cranking amps used to start the V8, 330HP engine and the other battery is a sealed gell, deep-cycle for running the "house" electronics. The charging requirements are different for each battery and I was assured by the manufacturer that this charger/tender could meet the specific needs of both types without a problem. I installed the tender and within 24 hrs. both batteries were fully charged and in maintenance mode. Keeping the batteries fully charged through the winter should extend their usefull life and have me "good-to-go" in the Spring. I'm very pleased so far with the performance and cost of this product.

It is slightly smaller than it could be, and built cheaply...but it is a nice way to store you recharger when not in use, and keep the little extras from dissapearing. CTEK Power's Multi US 3300 is a primary switch mode battery charger, with pulse maintenance and is a part of a series of professional battery chargers from CTEK Sweden AB. A recent addition to the CTEK family of "the smartest battery chargers in the world," the Multi US 3300 contains three charging modes, and automatically and easily charges all 12V lead-acid batteries, making it perfect for motorcycles, cars, lawn mowers, jet skis and any other vehicle with batteries up to 120Ah. Four-step Automatic Battery Charging Cycle There is no need for any specific knowledge of batteries or their charging methods; the Multi US 3300 will take care of it. The Multi US 3300 utilizes a four-step automatic charging cycle. First, patented desulphation functionality allows for possible reconditioning of batteries that have lost significant power due nonuse. This is followed by Bulk Charging, when 80% of charging takes place; then Absorption Charging which completes charging up to virtually 100%; and finally Pulse/Maintenance Charging, in which the battery receives a pulse of electricity when the voltage drops below 95%, keeping the battery in perfect condition indefinitely when it is not used. If the battery is loaded and the battery’s terminal voltage drops to 12.9V the charger automatically switches back to the beginning of the four-step cycle. View larger. 3 Modes for Flexible Use The Multi US 3300 is specifically developed for different needs, vehicles and batteries. With this in mind user have a choice between three different modes. The low-current mode (the motorcycle icon) is perfect for smaller 12V batteries such as motorbikes, lawnmowers, jet skies, snowmobiles, etc. The higher current mode (the car icon) is for automotive or marine applications with larger batteries. Finally, an additional winter mode (the snowflake) is specifically aimed at charging and maintenance in cold weather. It is also perfectly suited for Optima Red Top batteries. Charging for All-weather Conditions A very light and compact charger, but still extremely robust and water and dust resistant (IP65 classification), the Multi US 3300 is designed to charge and maintain batteries, no matter the weather, temperature or situation. The Multi US 3300 is certified for use between –4°F and +122°F. In order to make things easier and more convenient, the Comfort Connect (eyelet terminals) can be permanently connected to the vehicle’s battery. My first charger arrived and did not work. I returned the charger (at Amazon's expense) and the second charger was sent "next day" via UPS. The CTEK 3300 is an extremely easy charger to use. It is small in size which is a plus. It is also less expense than the more well known charger brand. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the first charger did not work.

Wanted to be able to charge the battery in my "Garage Queen" Porsche 911. Did some research and learned that the Porsche Battery Minder that sells for $115 (or more) is made by CTEK and is the same charger as this CTEK Multi US 3300 for around half the price. Only thing I'd like to mention is it does NOT come with the cigarette lighter plug-in but you can get that accessory for around $10 also at Amazon. Once I had both pieces (charger and cigarette lighter plug-in) my battery indicator went from needs to be charged to fully charged in a few hours. Recommended. An email to CTEK was never answered but that's not Amazon's fault.

I ordered 2 different chargers to maintain my gate opener's deep cycle battery (a simple 4 output charger with extension cords for charging other deep cycle batteries from amazon Battery Tender 022-0148-DL-WH 12V 4-Bank Battery Management System) and this unit has a far superior charging design.

The 4 bank battery tender does a simple fast rate charge then switches to a trickle charge at a constant voltage with 4 outputs.

This unit pulses the battery under charge and features 3 operating modes with different current outputs for different sized batteries. The selections are motorcycle which also works well for SLA gel cells or AGM batteries, standard automotive starting battery, deep cycle batttery, and off.

What makes the CTEK unit special is that it uses a pulse charge in all modes to attempt to desulphate batteries, while the battery tender does not. This method of charging has proven successful in restoring lead acid batteries that won't take a charge any more.

It comes with a waterproof 12V output cable and a set of clips or rings for permanent installation under the hood of your car. In addition to the LEDs for indicating the type of battery being charged, a second set is provided for empty, 1/2 full, and maintenance pulse charge mode.

There is also a noticable increase in quality between the battery tender and this unit - small details like a water sealed housing and gaskets on the connectors indicate quality in manufacture.

For a single 12V lead chemistry battery this is a useful, well made tool.

I primarily use this charger to keep the battery on my motorcycle charged up when sitting dormant for weeks at a time. The unit comes with two sets of leads that can plug into the unit. The leads consist of traditional alligator clips and eyelets. I have the eyelet leads permanently bolted to my battery with the plug accessible without having to remove the battery. The unit also comes with a nice storage pouch with a nice sleeve to keep the instructions in. The product is very streamline and easy to use. The price is very reasonable compared to other products (which are unusually big and bulky). I'm extremely satisfied with this product and highly recommend it.

I ordered the CTEK 3300 Charger after seeing this product at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. I spoke with the factory reps. and decided that this product was just what I need to keep my battery ready to go in my Trans Am which I drive only on pleasure trips. Up to this time I had been considering getting the "other" battery maintaince product (you know who I am talking about). I did have a question and nobody at Amazon could answer it for me. I would have ordered more accessories with this product but the photo on the Amazon.com webpage showed the older version of this product and nobody could tell me if the item was now shipping with the new "comfort connection" system. When I received this product, it indeed did come with the new connectors. If I had known this, I would have ordered more accessories. Overall, this product is fantastic, I have nothing but priase for this product. Try it and you will be pleased.
